Ladies in Hades and the Dyval Wears Prada

Coming Clean - Conversational Interlude II

James:

As our crew heads into the sewers towards Calgary. James is deep in thought and just stops walking.

“Okay….this is stupid. we are all after something here. what it is none of us have really shared so before we go into what’s basically a nest of demons and alien creatures I think we should pool ALL our knowledge now!”

Trent:

Trent looks back at James coldly. “What is it that you think I haven’t told you? I’ve shared what I know already – I’ve even shared my resources with the rest of you! I’ve made it very clear that I don’t want… whatever it is that Baaz stole to fall into either Deevil or Demon hands.” Trent stops talking and stares off, getting lost in his thoughts suddenly.

Pall Mall:

Pall Mall blinks with all three of his eyes. "Your path is set Olympian. Is the wind shaking the leaf in the face of standing out like a sore thumb in the city of demons? Or are the bastard sons of Zeus made of sterner stuff? Surely – as you have put it – they will recognize your greatness and leave you be! Asgard stands strong in the face of my misunderstood and insane brethren. Is something on your mind that you would like to tell us that could tip the balance in this upcoming adventure?

“Look – any of you who don’t want to pose as my slaves should take the sewers – it may provide us with an ace in the hole having a shock force just at arm’s reach. And I presume you will not want to be drenched in the rank of refuse and 300 year old decay? (Winking three times at James )

The Deacon:

The Lord’s motives are a mystery. My motives are as plain as day: send the sinners to Hell.

He has prepared a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, he has anointed me His Hand, and Hell’s cup runneth over. Gentlemen, pack your handbaskets, I reckon to have myself one hell of a picnic.

James:

“Then maybe I should tell you all something. Trent you asked me how I know so much… Because my relatives told me. What Baaz has is very very very dangerous. Not just to earth but to every plane! And it’s not just one. There’s another as well… Athena has one. And right now she’s in Calgary. The best hunter in the world couldn’t find her. Also I’m told were not the only ones hunting Baaz but he’s managed to evade everyone! So i ask… what are our chances?”

Trent:

Trent pauses his own thoughts to turn his attention back to James. “Wait, what? We know Baaz went to Calgary, we know he has an item of power, and you knew that some girl from your family is running around Calgary with another one of these items? And you accused us of not sharing everything we knew!? It’s bad enough that arch-fiend has one of these items, but there’s another one around, and it’s within his grasp? That’s EXACTLY where we should be heading, and that’s how we’ll find Baaz!”

As Trent pauses for a moment after his outburst, he thinks, “It makes sense now, why that Deevil headed straight into the Demon city! This could work even better than the plan I was cobbling together…

After his pause to calm down, Trent says "Maybe you should tell us the whole story? Because if the “best hunter in the world” couldn’t find this girl, how do you know she’s in Calgary? Can we find her? An ally already entrenched within the Demon city… We wouldn’t have to deal with Solomon at all if that were the case!"

Pall Mall:

“I think Solomon may be the only GM tool for to find said girly…” the devilishly handsome Sowki looks up seemingly waiting for lightning to strike him.

“C’mon James we’ve all spilled the beans…. I’ve told you absolutely everything Asgard was able to find out…. Don’t you want to tell everything?? Even the stuff you selectively left out just now?” ( save vs hypnotic suggestion…. Biiiootch!!! \m/ )

James:

I’m not sure if she’s still there or not. And she’s not really an ally at the moment either. Her minds…messed up. She’s confused. And if we do find her…well I’m not sure how she would react. Athena in an agitated state isn’t something I would like to see. Already saw what it did to the old man.

The Deacon:

“We’ve seen what Baaz can do first hand. If he’s in pursuit of a defenseless woman, our action seems clear. We must locate this Athena and escort her to safety. And then dispatch Baaz.”
Pall Mall:

“Yeah – I don’t think Athena is exactly helpless Deacon. I think we should avoid conflict with an insane GOD at all costs. If James can’t talk any sense into her, and Zeus himself is being affected by her maddened actions, I think it prudent to play the reconnaissance role, and at the last minute swipe said items after our friend Solomon has revealed/discovered them. I am however concerned that these two items of legend being in the same place at the same time will make some kind of Constructicon and remove any mortal options from the table. "

Trent:

“I’m still willing to bet that if she’s got one of these things, Baaz probably isn’t too far away. I should hopefully be able to pick him out if he’s in a metamorphed state. But… now you’re not sure if she’s there? Your story isn’t very coherent; maybe you should start at the beginning and walk us through it. Don’t just assume we know.”

James:

My father told me he lost track of her there. That other people might be looking for her. Baaz included. My father stopped looking a few days ago when it became clear he wasn’t going to accomplish any of his goals. He’s currently looking into other aspects of this whole thing. What those are he didn’t share with me. For all we know cane sprang his trap and baaz is delt with by now.

Trent:

Trent looks over at James. “James, just because your father is a quitter doesn’t mean we should quit. Whether Baaz has this item, or Solomon, it doesn’t matter anymore. NEITHER of them should be allowed to have it – how isn’t that clear yet? And then this girl god of yours, Athena, she has another one AND she’s crazy?” Trent sighs. “I agree with Pall, we definately need to scope out this situation and get our bearings before we jump into any sort of action. But I won’t walk away from this. Not yet.”

Having said that, Trent tests out the Metamorphosis ability of the amulet he’s wearing and morphs into a Green Jinn.

James:

“I AM NO BASTARD SON OF ZUES! My father is Apollo! And If I’m going into this city I’m not doing it in some sewer! So how’s this…Trent and deacon go through there. Me and the Odin son will go through the front door. And I am not so proud that I will accept the ruse if being a slave. But be warned Asgard thy pride only allows so much. I may be Apollo’s son but my Patience is less than his”

Pall:
  • rolls all three eyes and thinks ‘He’s only got a sword right??’
Trent:

“Are you done? Zoos, Appalo, they’re all just names to me; I don’t really care who your father was or who in your family is the quitter. You’re free to go your own way and do what you will as long as you don’t endanger the rest of us. But before you leave, take a moment to consider just HOW many times since we met that you’ve found your life in danger, and how many of those times you survived because you had the rest of us with you.”

The Deacon:

The Deacon shakes his head, “Idle hands are the devils’ playground. Can’t you see what’s happening here? We are playing directly into the evil that surrounds us. It is trying to consume us with hatred and fear! Perhaps it is this fog, perhaps it is the proximity to the Gate, but we need to continue with the Spirit in which we set about our task. I firmly believe our road into Hell is the best road out.”

Deacon looks around the sewer, “And a road in darkness is no way to go. I’m headed to the surface, and straight into the city.”

Trent:

Trent checks over his metamorphed form and, seemingly satisfied, shifts back to his normal self. “If you all think we should enter the city above ground rather than through the dilapidated tunnels, I’m fine with that. We just need to stop second-guessing ourselves, pick a plan, and stick to it. Whichever way we go, as long as we work together, we’ll have a much better shot at meeting our goals.”

Trent looks over at Pall Mall. “Pall, refresh my memory. What is the goal you’re hoping to accomplish by going into this city?”

Pall:

Well to be honest, Asgard has been a bit vague in directing me – especially into Calgary which they did not mention at all. I’m just hoping to stay alive and not get on the inter dimensional most wanted list. I’d love to do something tricky to BAAZ but if he’s a greater deevyl I won’t have much in the way of magic leverage. All I know is having Athena and Baaz on the loose in the same city with presumed items of legend is not a good thing. If we do happen to yoink either of them what the hell do we do with it??

Presumably everyone in the megaverse will be looking for these items and keeping them here on this plane and within the group is simply inviting the disastrous 7th level curse. I don’t particularly trust the Olympian Prima Donna over there and he’s really trying to see whose dick is bigger. Soo…you tell me Trent – are we really just tracking Mr. Cane to get to Bazz and then steal his shit?

Truthfully I’d rather not go into Calgary, but between all of us I think I have the better chance of being undetected.

Trent:

Trent nods his head thoughtfully as Pall talks, taking in what the Sowki is saying. “Good points,” Trent says after a minute of contemplation. “I know we can’t engage in any direct confrontations with Baaz. I watched him lay Solomon flat in an instant. And if this Atheenia girl is a god as well… well, we’re not going to fare much better there, either.” He pauses for a moment to look at first James, then The Deacon, then with a small sigh addresses them all. “We don’t know what we’re getting into here. I’d like to propose a new strategy. Pall, I think you’re right about you having the best chances out of all of us to get in undetected. You should go on ahead of us to go in the city, maybe taking just one other with you – that amulet I have would allow anyone wearing it to metamorph to be able to blend in. Draw as little attention as possible while getting a feel for the place, and what we’re up against.”

“The rest of us will wait back here, but Pall you’ll go in with two magic scrolls: One that will let you create one of those temporary dimensional rooms I’ve been making for us every night, and a second one for creating a dimensional portal. Once you’ve gotten a feel for the place, find a relatively safe, out of the way area where you can create that dimensional room. Then go inside and use the Dimensional Portal scroll to open a portal back to us here.” Trent pauses for a moment, then continues.

“If the rest of us arrive that way, then we’ll benefit from everything that Pall and his companion have learned, plus we’ll get right into the city that way – no worries about having to fight our way in, the way Solomon seemed to have to. If we can find an opportunity to get ahold of those weapons, then we take it. Ultimately I think the main goal we should all have is to get those weapons out of there. I’ve got some spare bags linked to dimensional pockets, any items put in there would not register as being in this dimension. So if we do manage to get ahold of one of them, that’s what we can do with them to get them ‘off the radar’ until we can return them to their rightful owners.”

And,” Trent thinks to himself, “If it becomes necessary that’s also how they can be disposed of.

“Deacon,” Trent says, turning to address The Deacon. "I know you look forward to defeating the Deevil we think is here, but we may be too out of our league to do that directly. But the Demons in this place should be more than happy to fight him for us, if we can just expose him somehow. I think that’s the best option for dealing with him, if we encounter him. Even without doing that, just retrieving that item from him will likely cause him to face punishment from his own superiors for failure. Direct assault should be an absolute last resort. Can we count on you in this?

Next Trent looks at James. “James, I understand that you’re following the orders of your family here, and that it’s your own family that’s in danger within the city. I know what it’s like to lose family, and if we can get close enough to her I think I can get her away with one of the teleportation magics I have scribed. Maybe the Demons will leave you alone if you waltz in there. But what if they don’t? I know you’re powerful, but anyone can be whittled down over time. I think going about it this way is the best way to ensure you live long enough to actually help your family. Just in case you’re wrong.”

Addressing the entire group again, Trent continues. “Once we’re inside, as long as we stay together, then if things go wrong I can quickly get us out with a teleportation scroll. It’ll take just a couple of minutes here for me to create that scroll which will allow Pall to be able to make a Dimensional Room. How does this all sound to the rest of you?”

James:

I think its fine. But I ask that I go with Pall. No offense Deacon but I’ll be better able to control my urges then you. Plus it will be a good way to see if I can be left alone. Trent you have to stay behind in case something goes wrong with the scrolls. You’re our best chance out somehow. Sound fair?

Deacon:

The Deacon turns on James and in a stern and serious voice says “Urges? I am compelled to do the Lord’s work for I am His Intercessor!”
The tense glare gives way to a sly smirk, “But, if it suits you, I’ll allow you to soften up the hell-spawn before I administer His Judgement.”

Deacon turns and walks to Trent’s side and says softly to himself, “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for Justice, for they will be satisfied.”
