The last few nights have been busy, but I am making the time now to catch up before we move on to what lies ahead.

A close call with a group of mutants known as “Mountain Men” a couple of nights ago led to me offering to create dimensional rooms for our group each night. What a chore! While we’ve all been able to sleep and rest unmolested, I’ve been tiring myself out needlessly. I’m not at the point yet where I need to ask any of the others for help, though. But slowing our pace down has allowed me to go through more of those items I grabbed from that bunker, and puzzle more of them out. There’s some interesting things so far, not the least of which was a trio of spheres which could store magical energy! Pall discovered what those could do, and he’s been holding on to them since.

Oh yeah, Pall Mall’s back. He’s been staying in human form through a ring he picked up back in Tolkeen. I have no problem with that! But he’s not just back, he also brought a Valkyre with him! How in Time did he get a Valkyre? I guess that’s a Summoner for you. He said he’s got some other minions working on a secluded base of some sort, somewhere. If that’s true, and he really is offering to let us use it, then that will be very handy! I can’t help but wonder though, what’s in it for him? For now, I remain cautiously optimistic about it.

That’s assuming, of course, that I live long enough to worry about that.

We’ve been travelling west, following Solomon as best as we can. Pall was able to contact him through a communication rift and we found out Solomon intends to defeat Baaz and retrieve the item that Baaz acquired from that Deevil woman back in the Xiticix hive. Solomon made it clear he intends to give it to the Demon Lord he works for. I don’t know what that thing is, but I’m fairly sure I don’t want Deevil’s OR Demon’s getting their hands on that thing.

We encountered some sort of unnatural, magical fog the closer we got to Solomon and our destination. We entered the ruins of a pre-rifts town and that’s when I felt it – the largest tear in the fabric of space and time I’ve ever felt. And I just knew, this must be the infamous Calgary Rift. Pall used magic to confirm that Solomon was already at it’s location, and I’m now filled with dread.

Calgary is known for being a ruined city full of monsters and demons. That rift is the reason for dozens upon dozens of monsters and other beings which plague mankind in this world. What will await us there? More and more, I’m convinced this may be a suicide mission. Even for me, and I’m pretty good at escapes. I’ve offered to pool some of my resources, including some of the scrolls and magical items I’ve both made and found. I’m hoping we can formulate a decent strategy. We’ve already managed to uncover some pre-rifts maps from the ruins of one of these buildings, so we’ve got some info for some possible underground paths in or out. But even then, it’s likely we’ll run into some things.

We all discussed our reasons for wanting to continue on – specifically, whether or not we should. Deacon’s pretty transparent, his reason was no surprise. Pall says he’s going there on Odin’s behalf? And James talked about some sort of divine magical items, and that’s what he thinks Baaz has. As for me, I was hoping to get some answers – such as, why is Tr’nalath involved? Does it involve that Book of Heroes or Codex of Souls that Pall told us about? More than that though, I’m convinced that whatever the thing is that Baaz took needs to get as far away from here as possible, and I need these guys to help accomplish that.
